North
North in vastu
A house facing this way
A north-facing house is a good house. Such homes also tend to sell for more, which has more to do with resale than with vastu.
This part of the house
- Sits well here
- Water source, borewell or tank, Study, Main entrance, Living room
- The element
- Water
Linked with wealth and opportunity. The north is best kept open and light, and entrances and living space sit well here.
A house that differs from the ideal is still a good house.
How this is worked out
This direction reads as Water. That is where its placements come from: a room goes where its element goes, which is why the scheme holds together rather than being a list to memorise.
We will not tell you to move a wall, a door, a kitchen or a bathroom. Structural changes cost a great deal, are frequently irreversible, and no page that has never seen your home is in a position to recommend one.
