How this is worked out
Most rooms have a preferred spot and an acceptable one, so both are given. A single answer would read as a rule, and a rule suggests everything else is wrong.
The north-east is the one placement vastu is firm about: keep it light and uncluttered, without a toilet, heavy storage or a staircase. That is a statement about a floor plan, nothing more.
Nothing here says your home is defective. Vastu describes an ideal arrangement; a house that differs from an ideal is still a good house, and almost every home differs somewhere, including the homes of people who offer to correct yours.
We will not tell you to move a wall, a door, a kitchen or a bathroom. Structural changes cost a great deal, are frequently irreversible, and no page that has never seen your home is in a position to recommend one.
