Amirdha — the best of the eight · 92 minutes · Makara (Capricorn) rising

For a wedding

None of these stretches holds as a wedding lagna; the reason is under each.

Every stretch today fails a wedding-lagna check below. A strong Jupiter, Venus or Mercury can lift those faults, and that is not checked here, so your purohit may still give a lagna on this day.

These hours are what remains after removing the periods every almanac marks, ranked by gowri part. For a wedding, each one's rising sign is also checked against the rules for the marriage lagna: no planet in the seventh from the lagna, none of the placements that break it (Saturn in the twelfth, Mars in the tenth, Venus in the third, the Moon or a malefic rising, and those in the sixth and eighth), no malefics closing on the lagna or the Moon, and the Sun, Mars, Saturn, Rahu and Ketu kept out of the seventh from the Moon. A stretch that fails says why. The eighth sign from the couple's own birth signs needs their charts and is checked in the wedding report. Two things are not checked here: the navamsa of the lagna, and the further rules that let a strong Jupiter or a strong Sun and Moon lift a fault — so a stretch refused here may still be accepted by your purohit on those grounds. Durmuhurtam is not published: two major panchangams place it in different muhurtas on the same day, and removing the wrong forty-five minutes from your day is worse than not offering the field.
